Commerce has been a persistent feature of the Cluster since the Temple first initiated contact with the remnants of the flotilla. It has come a long way from those first tokens exchanged more out of courtesy and greeting than for mutual benefit or profit. Indeed, in the early days of the Cluster, interstellar trade made little sense very few things carried enough value to cover the expense and risk of corridor travel. Only remnant flotilla technology and Old Earth data held such value for the fledgling colonies, and these colonies struggled to offer much in return for these treasures.
The Venti Republic, with great foresight, bet on future value. They invested in exclusive trade rights, language standardization, endorsement of Venti currency, colonial exchange programs, port construction, and the creation of unified trade law. They were bidding to create the very markets that would one day become profitable.
Now, corporations are more powerful than most worlds, their influence curtailed only by the superpowers. Many predict the rise of mega-corporations that could eventually challenge even the superpowers themselves. The foundation already exists: intercorporate law provides the common framework of the Core Worlds and is sufficiently bankrolled to serve as the de facto standard throughout most of the Jambles and Frontier. Core Worlds banking has become dependent on the corporations, with numerous examples of combined corporate efforts strong-arming banks and, in turn, the Core Worlds into bending to their will.
Leading in research, resource exploitation, and energy infrastructure, corporations already hold the keys to the kingdom. With companies like Seaside commanding vast military assets, combined with immense wealth and an abundance of Armournauts, the conventional force of corporations may already be enough to fight even the superpowers to a standstill.
Surabhi
Surabhi is a leading cluster conglomerate specializing in advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and automation technologies. Known for its cutting-edge research and development, products are ubiquitous in both industrial and consumer markets. The corporation is infamous for its aggressive expansion tactics and dominant market position.
Highland
Highland is the most prominent genetic engineering research organization. However many of its researchers have gone on to create their own companies, with significant investment from Highland. Some of these companies have Dubious reputations and rumors abound of custom organisms, gene editing kits and immortality serums.
Benandonner
Bennadonner is the largest private manufacturer of Mobile Ordinance Armour in the cluster. Only the superpower's domestic production can match the scale and variety of their products. Even then no MOA company can match their profits. Favored by Armournauts across the cluster even if their products are becoming costly. Their slogan is “you can’t put a price on victory”
