The Yellow Peahen Empress is the current reigning monarch of the Averi people, though she has never been beheld by an outsider or even glimpsed by even the most influential or powerful of her own people. Her line has remained secluded within the vastest station in the cluster since the recrudescence era and their defeat by the lunar union. The self imposed internment of the Averi monarchy within the continent structure Magnasanti is poorly understood. Years may pass without any laser or radio communication from the station but its cultural and religious significance to the Averi people cannot be understated. The Line is revered as more than monarchs, they are instead almost mythic and are believed to be guardians of the secret sciences and keystones to the harmony of the universe. They are so elevated by the Averi that pilgrimage to the sealed World station of Magnasanti is a rite of passage that many Averi make at least once in their lifetime.
Though the Averi regime itself is considered a hostile rogue nation, policy makers around the cluster have struggled to meaningfully oppose it. The political and theological nature of the Averi monarchy are absolute and inseparable to their people. Restricting the religious freedoms of any population is always contentious in the cluster and has proved both unpopular and ineffectual. Most nations have endeavored to legislatively separate the religious and cultural entity from the political entity. In practical terms this means allowing worship but forbidding any forms of direct aid. For the most part this functions well enough but The Averi Monarchy appears to retain significant power and influence in certain parts of the cluster.
Magnasanti has also been known as the Wandering Paradise or more derisively the Birdcage. it is widely considered to be one of the man-made wonders of the cluster. Its scale is only dwarfed by the ruined encumenopolis on morganna, the Lhamagean Arcologies and the pillars. Completely sealed from the outside world its interior has presumably only been viewed by the population that has resided in it since its construction in the recrudescence era. The external control systems are entirely remotely operated within the vast interior, which also suggests that their is a substantial central sublunary class intelligence operating the megastructure. Spectrometry has revealed much about magnasanti’s construction and interior.
It is evident that Magnasanti was hollowed out from an asteroid which was then shaved into its more cylindrical shape. The exterior over the centuries since its original construction had a number of reliefs etched into it by pilgrims. In a tradition aimed at paying tribute to the monarchy gold leaf is adhered to the exterior, while some choose to have their dead buried in the rocky outer shell. Their is even an entire Averi Shrine carved into the side of the outside of Magnasanti. Underneath the rock houmous lies a layer of frozen water, a common means of reducing radiation exposure on orbital structures. Beneath the ice layer lies the structural layer, where a vast mechanical network of supports attach the station to the asteroid and rotate the vast habitat drum. Oddly this structural layer appears to be fully pressurized and atmospheric readings are consistent with inhabited stations. Thermal diagnostics also seem to indicate the structural supports themselves either being directly inhabited or also being used to support truly vast residential towers. Even if only 10% of the structural supports are occupied this could be billions of individuals inhabiting the structural layer alone. Within the habitation drum it is believed that a space with a surface area roughly approximate to the size of Europe exists. Spectrometry infers large bodies of water, a temperate climate with and a spin gravity equivalent to old earth’s. The oddest component of Magnasanti is spectrographic anomalous formation at center of mass of the orbital. This core’s composition has yielded baffling returns under energetic bombardment consistent with no known material or element including the ever mystifying pillarite. Averi theological explanations for this region vary from it being, the royal treasury to the very body of the wisdomking herself. Beyond this it is impossible to discern the nature of the habitat drum, though what little can be gleamed from the scant communications made with Magnasanti paint it as an idyllic paradise. In any case the advanced construction indicates that the project likely predates the Averi’s war with the union.
The Averi people have acquired and created a number of planetary and orbital colonies since their exodus from union space. These are typically prosperous colorful districts suffused with the living Averi traditions. Averi music, dance and cuisine are enthusiastically shared with outsiders and carried out with a degree of authenticity and reverence bordering on performative. Averi medicine is second only to that of the Temple and in specialty areas far exceeds them. The Averi attribute equal importance on mental and physical wellness and Averi contrology in particular has strong representation in contemporary psychotherapy. The Averi outside of Magnasanti have largely abandoned the strict feudal hierarchy and caste system that is assumed to continue within it. Instead an influential wealthy class of powerful magnates has emerged across hundreds of worlds. This loose alliance has been implicated in slavery, drug trafficking and racketeering across the cluster. Their most sizable profits however derive from the cloning technology that was distributed by Magnasanti with the blessing of the empress. Livestock, crops, organs for transplant and GELF weaponry have seen the wealth of individual magnates eclipse that of many nations. This wealth is spent lavishly in displays of opulence only rivaled only by Venti princes and Obriossian drone barons.
Averi insurgencies are common in union territory and, the most prominent of which is known as the phoenix court. Their bombing campaigns, suicide brigades and political killings have proved as enduring as they are abhorrent. In more recent years Union colonies in the frontier have seen large scale assaults from well organized and equipped Averi Terror Cells. These groups appear to be funded by sympathetic Averi magnates and have been linked with competing colonial efforts of prominent Averi. The Averi magnates have established and powerful presence in the frontier where they aim to rebirth the Averi nation. This is well supported by the Averi people and evidently the Wisdom king herself, who has reportedly decreed that the Magnasanti has begun it transit the the new Averi colonies. This has been met with mixed opinion by the superpowers and core worlds. Foremost among the concerns is the reemergence of Averi Empire.
The vast concentrations of Averi wealth have lead to sizable retainer forces and varitable armies of mercenaries employed to enact the will of the magnates. Officially their central government resides within Magnasanti but sufficiently large Averi powers maintain embassy habitats that follow Magnasanti and contribute defensive vessels to safeguard the Wandering Paradise. The rest of a magnate's subordinates operate more comparably to enforcers in criminal organizations than professional military. Every captain and every soldier will be expected to provide more than just security, they will often be skilled in one way or another and if not be expected to work regularly in a role suited to them in the legitimate businesses owned by the magnate. Careful to work with only with trusted associates its rare that a magnate will hire Armournauts but when then do it is typically for jobs that require less discretion. Armounauts take on a great deal of risk in working for an Averi magnate between angering rival magnates, organized criminal groups, local enforcement or indeed entire nations. For this though they are well compensated and often integrate into a magnates organization. The Averi are particularly active in the frontier where the wandering paradise of Manasanti has resided out of the reach of the superpowers.
