Obriossians more colloquially known drone barons or dronesteaders have long since forgotten their homeworld lost as it was in the recrusdence era in their conflict with the Union. What has been pieced together by their scant personal records and union accounts were that they were more a coalition of individuals rather than a conventional nation. Following the scattering their portion of the flotilla landed with much of their drone cache and autonomous factories intact. Consequently their was little delay in them establishing a number of self sufficient colonies each with their own fabricated factory cores and swathes of autonomous resource gathering units. The result was near a scarcity-less society that allowed individuals the ability to separate wholly from one another. It was elective for participation in the greater society and many reclused themselves content with automatic satiation of their baser needs. Trade between these households was rare but occasionally a barter economy would briefly flare into existence as commodities would be exchanged for newly developed products. Petering out when these products were eventually integrated into the fabrication core for reproduction. Many of the trappings of society such law, taxation and currency were completely absent and in their place were a number of mutable subjective agreements between complex webs of aligned households. Intimate and familial bonds became incredibly important as the mutual trust between households could only be cemented by such relationships. Despite this conflict was constant among the early Obriossians and there is a great deal of evidence to suggest their society never functioned so effectively. Many contemporary historians incorrectly view the ideology of the early Obriossians as anarcho-capitalism but in reality large colatitions frequently dominated and divested the smaller ones becoming central authorities of sorts. Its perhaps more appt to compare their society to early tribal cultures where numerous family units formed larger tribal alliances.
The growing population only escalated tensions as dronesteaders began trying to secure their lifestyle for their descendents. The ever diminishing unclaimed space was quickly seized and countless little wars ensued for decades. Many obriossians fabricated space vessels to colonize the rest of their system and soon the little wars spread with their expansion. The Coalition was formed during this time as a response to the increasingly despotic households and the escalating resource conflicts. This inturn spurred the creation of the Confederacy and the Commonwealth who quickly organized opposition to the coalition and one another. The ensuing war between these three factions and countless minor ones continued until their contact by the Union and the discovery of the corridors.The Early Obriossians now inhabited bunkers having devastated their world and upon recognising that another society had eclipsed them they sought to immediately confer. The three powers reconciled and their new cooperation dubbed the consortium set to the dissemination of technology equally across Obriossian households and instructed them to begin fabrication of drones for the consortium stockpiling efforts.
Years of military development in the Obriossians' eyes had secured their independence of their system from their neighbors. The Averi and the Enazcan had frequently tested the peace in skirmishes and raids but never posed a real threat. Obriossians spread far and wide creating familial enclaves in every system and society known to them. Escaping the increasingly totalitarian consortium as much exploiting the economic bounty of the cluster. When the Recursednece era started in earnest the Consortium Aligned itself with the Averi and the Enazcan against the Union. After the initial devastation and near dissolution of the consortium the largest conflict in human history proved to be very profitable for a time. But renewed efforts by the now “Lunar Union” all too quickly eroded everything gained by seizure and occupation. The Averi fell first, their monarchy fleeing their worlds and taking their navy with them. The Enazcan soon after ceased being a meaningful contributor, relegated to insurgency on dozens of inconsequential worlds. Even the Lhamageans, whose mastery of technology and brutal execution of warfare had for all intents and purposes made them appear as gods succumb to the relentless advance of the Lunar union. The Consortium alone now turned inwards, falling into strife and civil war before annihilating itself as homeworld factions exchanged nuclear strikes.
The end of the Recrudescence Era saw many Obriossians choosing between integration into the Lunar Union or the pursuit of independence as increasingly peripheral members of society. In this sense it was similar to life under the consortium, the key difference being refusal to integrate or align with the authority of the Lunar Union was not met with persecution or outright subjugation. For many it was a false choice the union unquestionably afforded better education, healthcare and employment. Also many understood that sooner or later the union would grow to encompass anywhere they could seek to seclude themselves. All this changed with the discovery of the wider cluster. Emigration of the Obriossians was swift and massive, spreading their populations out across the cluster. Their households and enclaves can even be found in the frontier as these people continue to emulate their forebear commitment to independence.
The most radical elements of the old Obrissiaon nation have established the Guild, an organization that aims to create a new nation. However this stated aim in practice appears to be little more than a means of sourcing recruits. The Guild is first and foremost a criminal network and terrorist organization, their attacks are designed to seek vengeance for the downfall of their nation, chiefly they target the Lunar Union though this has not stopped them from opportunistically raiding colonies and engaging in piracy across the frontier. They have benefited greatly from constructing themselves as a patriotic restoration movement, this has ensured they have no shortage of funding from the radical Obriossians and enemies of the Union. Their chief income appears to be selling their pirated wares to Obriossian households and enclaves.
Obriossian households and enclaves are often short lived, vulnerable as they are to piracy and subjugation. More established settlements are often at the mercy of the Armournauts they employ to supplement their automated defenses. Those few Households that do persist resemble fortress compounds more than domiciles and require their highly militant occupants to maintain staggering weapons stockpiles. Seclusion being the greatest defense to the obriossians their households tend to be deep space habitats, subterranean bunkers or even aquatic domes. Their territorial nature, disregard for law or civil authority and tendency to settle without regard for the rights or claims of others frequently leads to conflict.Their lifestyle has inspired many to adopt it throughout the cluster frequently attracting those with similar political beliefs. Unfortunately just as often these newer adopters are almost always misguided, becoming victims and or perpetrators of the violence they surely sought to avoid by pursing the obriossian lifestyle. Larger enclaves and political movements are often tied to terrorism, violent insurrection and separatism earning them a decidedly mixed reputation in the cluster.
