Workers of Balharn unite! Balharn Syndacaliste was formed during the popular revolutions against the Yscenic occupation of Balharn. Though the movement pre-dated the triple war the fall of several Balharn governments and installation of the fascist Balharn Directorate emboldened its members to take action. The insurrection and overthrowing of the Directorate occurred after 140 years of violent repression. The establishment of the Peoples Republic of Balharn was not the end of the movement though. Instead its then Chairperson Ilena Dae renamed the organisation to Groupe Galactique Syndicaliste (GGS) and announced their new mission to empower all workers within the Cluster. Ilena also announced the integration of the Balharn Socialist Lobby into the GGS, Henceforth the new part flag would incorporate the socialist rose and the syndicalist torch.
GGS is a highly vocal agitator for the adoption labour reform and the advancement the demands and rights of workers through demonstration and labour strikes. GGS is primarily active in the core world and has identified and number of Subversive Worlds (SWs) that they aim to influence towards more humanitarian policy. All 18 Yscenic worlds and are considered SWs owing to their caste based system and alienation of the working class from politics. Bonum, Mariagador, Oubo and Tallica in The Venti Republic have been identified as SWs due to their debt indetureship practices and wholesale banning of labour demonstrations under the “Venti Greater Peace act”. The Saulchus Freeport has come under similar criticism but to a far greater degree. The GGS has motioned to have the Freeport closed on numerous occasions for reported violations of human rights violations. Little action has been taken on behalf of the cluster powers to suspended trade with or intervene in the freeport’s operations.
Even traditionally staunch allies of the GGS have been scrutinised over the years for their erosion of worker’s agency. The LNA’s capital Sophia station for a period of 5 years was criticised for its seemingly flagrant disregard for safety of its workers. It attained Subversive status after the death 300 workers in the Brisbane Cylinder Collapse were refused posthumous compensation on the grounds that they had not yet attained citizenship to the LNA. The GGS and Orbital Workers League cooperated in advocating for and legally supporting the claims the Brisbane workers. Their efforts and meetings with influential LNA politicians like Derno Adarush, Angellica Aren and Gunnar Hollister saw appropriate compensation and safety reform was rendered 5 years after the accident.
GGS has labelled only one Union administered planet a subversive world in their 300 year history. Vaetovki attained SW status after its local law enforcement detained a number of Local labour movement and GGS organisers on charges of terrorism and conspiracy. GGS viewed this as an attempt to threaten and intimidate local labour groups into disbanding. GGS contends that only 2 unaffiliated member of a local labour group had ties to Stragovi 111 and the detainment of all 29 other individuals was unlawful. Today the Vaetovki 31 remian incarcerated, many without formal charges until after confessions has been given some 5 years into their incarceration. GGS and the Union have endeavoured to repair their relationships but Vateovki remains a sore spot.
The GGS although starting on Balharn and being supported by its government is ostensibly an independent movement. It has many contributors and over 3 million members throughout the cluster. It has recently hired Armounauts as private investigators and security within the frontier that closely work with Union and LNA policing to protect and support sympathetic colonies.
