The Xianics emerged as a distinct offshoot of the Yscenics following a surrender by several isolated Yscenic colonies. During the numerous conflicts that plagued the Yscenics' history, these colonies, owing to their diminutive size and lack of military opposition, were largely overlooked and deemed inconsequential by the Yscenics many adversaries. Functionally they were separated from the empire but were permitted to exist as separate entities, they traded with their neighbouring nations and became highly reliant on them in the absence of any contact with the empire. When they were returned to Ysenic control during peace negotiations, it was with mixed emotion. Once the major wars subsided, the Yscenics perceived the inaction of these colonies as a form of treachery and sought to blame them for the contraction of the Yscenic empire. In response to this reproach and attempts to diminish their autonomy, the Xianics sought to assert their independence, aligning themselves with neighbouring interplanetary nations.
The Xianics, rejecting the Yscenic ideology of cultural superiority, abandoned many of their predecessors' practices. The Xianics in their decades of separation from the empire had developed their own culture much closer to their nighbors than that of the empire. while they maintained a heavily regulated system of indentured labor. they formally renounced slavery, they made significant concessions to surrounding interplanetary nations, securing defensive alliances and aid against their former Yscenic overlords. This shift in policy was pivotal in garnering external support and fortifying their position. The Yscenics, perceiving this move as a threat to their authority, declared war on the Xianics, sparking a prolonged low-intensity conflict between the two nations.
In the ongoing conflict, the Xianics have relied heavily on Armournauts for defense, recognizing their effectiveness in countering the Yscenic incursions. The use of Armournauts has been particularly advantageous in repelling the relatively small-scale attacks from their more powerful adversaries. This strategic choice underscores the Xianics' pragmatic approach to defense, emphasizing their ability to leverage hired military forces to maintain sovereignty and stability.
The Xianics have undergone significant political and cultural transformations since their separation from the Yscenics. Abandoning the rigid caste system of their predecessors, they have adopted a constitutional monarchy where concubine princes and princesses are married to the elected head of state. This system was designed to reconcile historical tensions and reduce the influence of the old Yscenic political order. Additionally, the Xianics have embraced the Venti language, reflecting their shift towards more democratic and inclusive principles. Over the centuries, the cultural divergence from the Yscenics has been marked, highlighting the profound changes that have shaped Xianic society. The Xianics have become prominent colonial figures in the frontier, diverting much of the military and economic presence to the Iolar system in the frontier. There they have established one the largest and most prosperous colonial worlds.
