Respite requires 15 minutes of game time during which characters must avoid any strenuous activity, including rolling skill tests. After this period, a character who has taken respite will restore all of their Vigour.
Rest involves 8 hours minus half of a character's Endurance or Resolve skill values. While resting, the character is asleep (refer to the sleep status). After completing this rest period, a character will regain all of their wounds.
However, characters with conditions must first pass a skill test before they can fully benefit from rest. They need to make an Endurance test for physical conditions or a Resolve test for mental conditions. The Difficulty Score (DS) of this test is 1 plus the number of conditions the character has.
Adverse conditions can hinder or prevent effective rest. Factors such as extreme temperatures, hunger, dehydration, exposure to elements, or ongoing combat can significantly affect the quality of rest. Conversely, favorable conditions can enhance the benefits of rest. The GM may adjust the DS based on these conditions.
